![]() ![]() The Maryland International Kite Exposition will feature three days of kite flying on the beaches of Ocean City, Maryland. She is grateful to be part of a dynamic team that has pivoted in the face of the pandemic, successfully, and looks forward to what the future holds within the passions of this group. Maryland International Kite Festival 2022 Ocean City, Maryland and The Kite Loft welcome you to come and fly on the beautiful beaches along our famous boardwalk. As someone who frequented the events the partnership held, coupled with her love of the ocean, community, and family, it seemed like a great fit to support the efforts of the partnership. Kristen joined the Revere Beach Partnership Board in 2020. Now enjoys spending time with her husband Sam, and three children, Eli, Aria, and Vera, soaking up the summer on the beach, exploring, and engaging in all the activities the Partnership and the city provide. Kristen grew up in Revere and has fond memories of frequenting Kelly's on the beach with her family as a child. I consider myself so fortunate to have “my beach”. ![]() I have been a daily walker along Revere Beach for about 45 years. ![]() A few years later, I was asked to be a member of the board and I have been on the board ever since. One of the outcomes of this charette was the formation of the Revere Beach Partnership and I was one of many who joined the organization as a community member. Ocean Beach (also known as O.B.) is a beachfront neighborhood of San Diego, California. When a charette to discuss the improvement of Revere Beach (which had deteriorated over the years) was held, I was thrilled to be a participant. As a child, my favorite playground was the beach, and it continues to be my favorite place. I have lived in the Point of Pines section of Revere since I was 3 and have always loved the beach. In addition, I am a Commissioner on the MA Beaches Commission and was named a “Boston Harbor Hero” in 2013. ![]() One of these organizations was the Revere Beach Partnership. When I retired, I became what is called, a “community activist” and have served on many non-profit organizations since. After 7 years serving as Dean, I retired in 2003. More information is available on the Grays Harbor Festival of Colors Facebook page, and at taught Mathematics at Revere High for 20+ years before assuming the position of RHS Dean. It will be open Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. Saturday are invited to make and keep a free sled-style kite.Ī festival tent will be set up in front of North Beach High School for information, schedules, festival T-shirts and collectible enamel pins. The first 200 kids who arrive between 12:30 and 3 p.m. The kids will compete within age groups, and the winners will receive custom-made delta kites. For these races, 6- to 8-foot bol kites will be attached to participants using harnesses. Beveridge said bol kites “tend to bounce along on the sand, maybe get 12-15 feet up in the air,” and they range from 18 inches to 30 feet in diameter. At noon is the “Running of the Bols,” a foot race where the kids drag “a big round kite that looks like a doughnut” behind them. Considered southeastern Connecticut’s premier summertime event, Sailfest draws more than 300,000 visitors to the New London waterfront district for free entertainment on two stages, 200-plus food and craft vendors, a 5K run, amusement rides, and a major fireworks show. Two free kids events also will take place on Saturday. Saturday will be another new element: “Mass Ascensions,” where participants fly the same style of kites at the same time. Several Canadian teams are also expected for the competition.Īt 11 a.m. Four flyers from the One India Kite Team are planning to travel 7,000 miles from the subcontinent to the Shores. There are individual and team competitions. All day Saturday and Sunday, flyers with two-line and quad-line steerable sport kites will be demonstrating their art and competing in an American Kiteflyers Association-sanctioned event, administered by the affiliated Northwest Sport Kite League. ![]()
